Women's Sexual Abuse

Survivor Group

Covered by most health insurances

This group will help trauma survivors:

 - gain a greater understanding of trauma and it’s impact on self-esteem

 - decrease isolation, share concerns, find strengths and explore new ways of coping

 - create a support system in which women can learn news ways of relating,               communicating and developing intimacy

Feedback from  former group members:

"I can now honestly say that I know I am not alone; not just that I know other women have had to live with this (I knew that), but there are real live people that I (now) know who truly understand. That's incredibly huge to someone who did not tell a soul for 30 years. "

" I just can't imagine the experience without your gentle presence. There were times when I surely would have jumped up and run away. But I didn't have to  because you were there, making sure it wouldn't go over the top for us. I thank you. There were times when I agonized over what to say and how to act. You made those times disappear with your quiet intercession. How you managed to keep an eye on each of us is beyond my comprehension. I appreciate your ability to do all of that."

"I've been coming here for many years to help me with my struggles and this place has provided me with many helpful tools in coping with my learning disability and trauma. This is not just a counseling center, but a place that uses a holistic take on psychology. I've learned so much from coming here. The survivor group I attended changed by perspective on my past and helped me move forward." M.S. (note from a trauma survivor who came in as a teen, struggling with high school and is now in the process of completing a career in medicine)

A note from Ginny: I facilitate one small survivor group each year. It will run weekly and will be no more than 6 women. We will slowly explore together the unhealthy coping mechanisms learned in order to survive childhood abuse experiences and start to let them go. We will support each other through this journey and let go of the shame. On the other side of this shared experience, you will become stronger, more confident and feel so much more capable of continuing your life journey. Some of my former groups members have become life long friends.

Please call to meet with me, if you are interested in maybe being part of our next group .
