What:
Mindfulness Meditation is the practice of awareness,
awareness of our direct experience, of what is actually
happening in this moment. Mindfulness is a wakeful, alert,
and yet relaxed state that helps us to be fully present to
what is. Meditation is a way of supporting such awareness.
Meditation is simple and easy to learn. It requires no
gadgets, diets or settings. Mindfulness Meditation can be
done anywhere by anyone at any time.
Why:
The practice of Mindfulness Meditation has proven successful
in reducing stress, managing pain, alleviating sleep
problems, increasing one’s ability to concentrate, combating
old habits and addictive behaviors. Mindfulness frees us
from emotional, mental and spiritual suffering, opening us
to life’s challenges and possibilities, and fostering a more
accepting and compassionate attitude toward oneself and
others.
Who:
Tom Tanguay, will facilitate these Mindfulness Meditation
classes. He has been a practicing meditator for over 35
years.
How:
The classes will consist of four (4) one hour sessions.
While there will be some theory and background offered; most
of our time will be devoted to actually practicing
Mindfulness Meditation. Perhaps most importantly, we will
discuss how we can bring the benefits of Mindfulness
practice into our everyday lives.
To register: Pre-registration is necessary.
The fee is $40 for the four sessions, payable by the first
class.
